our story

Hello and welcome to Bushcraft Botanicals. Our unique products are lovingly created in Australia’s beautiful island state of Tasmania and are sent all around Australia to curious and creative home beverage enthusiasts who want native flavours for their handcrafted tipples.

I’m Carolyn, Founder and Creator of Bushcraft Botanicals. As an environmental scientist I’m strongly drawn to the natural environment, and I’ve long been fascinated with native foods. Australian native foods are the oldest foods on earth, and some of the botanicals that have emerged from this extreme and ancient landscape have truly remarkable flavour profiles. My personal favourites are quandongs, a desert peach that tastes sweet, sour, salty and earthy all in one, and freeze-dried desert lime – like a grapefruit sherbet bomb!

Through my own exploration of creating infused gin, I identified that there was a missing opportunity to incorporate native flavours into home crafted beverages. This was the inspiration for creating DIY gin making kits featuring bush botanical infusions. With a new-found passion for promoting native ingredients and a drive to get more Australians tasting Australian flavours, I experimented with conventional beverage recipes, gave them an Aussie twist by swapping in Australian native botanicals and created packs of bush fruits & spices for making Australian inspired mulled wine, sangria and punch.

We hope you enjoy finding your new favourite Australian flavours.

I’m Carolyn, Founder and Creator of Bushcraft Botanicals. As an environmental scientist, I’m strongly drawn to the natural environment, and I’ve long been fascinated with native foods. Through my own exploration of creating infused gin, I identified that there was a missing opportunity to incorporate native flavours into home-crafted beverages. So, I set about developing gin botanical infusions using native ingredients and included them in DIY gin-making kits. To complete the Aussie gin-making experience, I came up with bush fruit garnish kits – perfect for adding some Aussie magic to cocktails and mocktails.

With a new-found passion for promoting native ingredients and a drive to get more Australians tasting Australian flavours, I experimented with conventional beverage recipes, gave them an Aussie twist by swapping in Australian native botanicals and created packs of bush fruits & spices for making Australian inspired mulled wine, sangria and punch. what we care about

We care about lots of things but focus particular attention on sustainability, the environment and acknowledging Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the founding source of knowledge upon which the native food industry is based.

We wanted to establish our business with sound social, cultural and environmental initiatives in place, and to that end, we created our Giving Back Program and we use eco-conscious packaging.

We’re working hard to be an environmentally and socially aware business, and as we mature, we’ll strive to make continual improvements. If you think of something that could make us better, or have thoughts you’d like to share with us, then please get in touch.
